Albania made history last night after winning their first ever game at a major competition and they did so with immense passion and hard work.
The Albanians defeated Romania 1-0 and have now given themselves a slight chance of qualifying to the knock out stages of the European Championships.
Gianni De Biasi’s side only scored seven goals in their qualifying campaign and had to battl hard to earn all three points last night. They were on top in the first half and were rewarded with a goal in the 43rd minute.
A great ball from Memushaj found Sadiku at the back post who brilliantly headed the ball in the net for the only goal of the game.
Romania mainly dominated in the second 45 minutes but had no end product in the final third. After taking the lead, the Albanians defended for their lives and were rewarded for their efforts.
There were crazy scenes at the final whistle and Albania celebrated as if they had won the tournament. The highlights of the game are provided below.
