Deal Close – Liverpool to Finally Sign $34million “Extraordinary” Star

Liverpool FCLiverpool manager Jurgen Klopp must adequately reinforce the squad this summer if the Reds are to have any chance of finishing in the top four next season.
The Anfield club must strengthen all the key departments and as far as the midfield is concerned, Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic is in the lime light.
The Merseysiders wanted to sign him last summer as well but the midfielder left the Nerazzurri to join Real Madrid (Telegraph). If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds are close to finally signing him.
Three days ago, Gazzetta reported that the European Champions are prepared to sell the 22-year-old versatile star for a fee of $34 million.
Yesterday, reports suggested (Football Italia via Sky Sport Italia) that Liverpool are ready to beat Juventus and Roma by paying the asking price for Kovacic.
Now, renowned journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has claimed today that Liverpool are close to signing Kovacic from Real Madrid for 30 million Euros ($34million).
The “extraordinary” star (Goal) is a complete midfielder. Over the years, he has effectively played as a defensive midfielder, as a creative central midfielder and also as an attacking midfielder. Such versatility will be a major plus for any side.
Mateo mainly warmed the bench for the Los Blancos and could only start 11 games last season. A move to Liverpool may as well help him get regular football.
In your opinion, should Liverpool sign Kovacic?

I suggest that you subscribe to the Liverpool Echo to get accurate information. This reliable publication says categorically that Liverpool have no interest in Kovacic.

Surely Liverpool should sign him in order to have varieties of great players, because we need to get back to our levels m I believe he can make a difference alongside emre can in the midfield

Do not tell me that every bench warmer in any football club is a potential superstar in my LFC.

He was very successful at Inter, the fans loved him – which says a lot in my book – and does it make him a bad player if he can’t get much game-time in Madrid when he’s behind Kroos, Modric, Isco and Bale in the pecking order? There are hundreds of very good players who wouldn’t get on Madrid’s bench! He’s only about 22, covers every blade of grass and with even moderate luck should blossom as a player under Klopp. Definitely a good buy . . . but we STILL need a defensive midfielder with William Carvalho the name on my lips! Carvalho and Can would be a superb combination.
Mind you, don’t forget, City already have De Bruyne and Silva, they’ve just signed Gundogan, they are seriously bidding for Kroos, with every expectation of getting him, and there are even mentions of Griezemann around Manchester so THAT might be the sort of midfield we are going to come up against next year.
If we are negative in our transfer dealings, or not ambitious, let’s be honest and state now we are settling for second, third or fourth spot, if we are lucky. Arsenal, Spurs, United and Chelsea aren’t going to be shy this summer when it comes to signing new players!
Buying potential now MIGHT be worthwhile but we’ve got numerous players bought for their potential either out on loan or languishing in the reserves or on their way out. Needs to be a balance of potential and the here and now . . . and the here and now could be more important if City and the other top teams pillage every top player after the Euros. Be honest, are we going to beat City, over 38 games, if they’ve got that sort of midfield and we potter around in the Pound Shop end of football? The answer, if you are unsure, is NO!
Kovacic and Carvalho would be a good start . . .

Liverpool shouldnt waste time…he is very good and can change defending into attacking..very fast we need him… We lack fast midfielders …liverpool donot have players that can easily confuse defenders…thats why we find it difficult…it is very easy to defend against Liverpool because they dont trick…defender always know what liverpool will do next…we need dribblers please klop

  6. Ernest Bagambe says:

RED PHIL – I agree with you, we need players cho can get into the team and make a difference by pushing us to the topm of the EPL! Buying potential has failed to work for LFC
