Arsenal have already signed one Swiss international in the form of Granit Xhaka this summer. Now, the Gunners are heavily linked with a move to sign another Switzerland star, Ricardo Rodriguez.
If reports are anything to go by then Arsenal are clear to seal the signing of the 23-year-old Wolfsburg defender who has made it clear that he wants to leave the Bundesliga side this season.
According to reports (Metro via Blick), Wolfsburg’s sporting director Klaus Allofs has claimed:
“As we have recently gathered, it was clear. His (Rodriguez) idea is to leave us”
Ricardo is not only renowned for his strong defending at the back but also for his productive displays in the attack. He has been effectively utilized as a winger as well.
At the moment, veteran Monreal is Arsenal’s first choice left back. Rodriguez will surely be an upgrade and the Gunners must do all to secure his signature.
Last season, Rodriguez netted 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 36 games for the Bundesliga side. In 2014/2015, the Swiss star featured in 39games and directly contributed in no fewer than 15 goals (10 goals and 5 assists).
As per the provided Metro link, the former Zurich player has a release clause of $27 million in his contract. In your opinion, should Arsenal splash the cash to sign Rodriguez?
SOUNDS LIKE HE WOULD MAKE A STRIKER NOT DEFENDER.
