The Europa League finalists Liverpool must strengthen the quality of their squad for next season and the Reds are currently linked with numerous attacking players.
One player in the lime light was French international and Rennes playmaker Ousmane Dembele. The 18-year-old attacker has been in brilliant form for the Ligue 1 side this season and has attracted interest from top clubs.
According to the Guardian yesterday, Liverpool moved into serious contention in the race to sign Dembele who is rated around $40 million.
Liverpool made a formal approach to sign the talented starlet and had to battle the likes of Dortmund.
In the end, the Reds have failed to get their man and the German club has officially secured the signing (Goal) of the French international.
Ousmane can play as a winger on either flank, as a central attacking midfielder and also as a center forward. The Les Bleus star has scored 12 goals and provided 5 assists in 25 league games for Rennes this season (Picture: Getty).
