Tottenham have brilliantly improved under the management of Argentine boss Mauricio Pochettino and they must further reinforce for next season to challenge the best of teams in Europe.
Spurs strengthened their back line last summer by luring three defenders in the form of right back Kieran Trippier and two center halves Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer. The North Londoners have the best defensive record in the Premier League this season.
However, if reports (L’Equipe) are anything to go by then Spurs are ready to make their back line much more stronger by signing another center back in the form of Lyon star Samuel Umtiti.
The 22-year-old French defender has been rock solid at the back for the Ligue 1 side this season. He has helped the team keep 13 clean sheets in his 27 league appearances.
Umtiti plays as a left sided central defender and Spurs already have two players for that position, first choice Jan Vertonghen and cover Kevin Wimmer.
It will be intriguing to see whether Pochettino is looking to lure him to increase squad depth or as Vertonghen’s replacement and Alderweireld’s partner in the central defense. Have your say.
