Arsenal were favorites to win the league title back in January, however, since the turn of the new year, the performances have been inconsistent and the Gunners are very much out of the title race now.
The one major positive since the turn of the year is the form of young Nigerian international Alex Iwobi. The 19-year-old versatile attacker got his chance under the management of Wenger and has started four of his last five league games.
The teenage star has kicked the likes of Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell out of the starting XI and is starting to form a brilliant partnership with world class attackers like Ozil and Alexis.
Iwobi agreed a new contract back in October and now reports (Mirror) suggest that Arsenal have agreed yet another deal with the in form attacker that will keep him at the Emirates till 2021. The youngster surely deserved another pay rise.
Arsene Wenger believes that the Iwobi is something special (EuroNews) and it has been surprising how quickly he has settled in the team.
Alex has started two league games for the Gunners and scored a goal in each much to the delight of the supporters.
