Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal sold record signing Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain last summer and replaced him with Dutch international Memphis Depay.
Unfortunately, the former PSV Eindhoven attacker has failed to shine at Old Trafford and now reports (Mirror) suggest Van Gaal wants the 25 million pounds signing out of the club after a mediocre campaign. Back in February, the same Dutch boss praised Memphis as “fantastic” (The Guardian).
Depay’s departure from Old Trafford makes sense, however, what does not make sense one bit is the ridiculous report from Daily Star who claim that arch rivals Liverpool can look to finally sign him from Man United.
For over 50 years, no player has been transferred directly between the two clubs and Depay’s transfer is surely not going to happen as well.
The Reds tried to sign Memphis last summer but he eventually joined the Red Devils. Liverpool would be glad that they failed to lure him and then went on to secure Roberto Firmino’s signature who has been brilliant for the Merseysiders this season.
