If Liverpool are to have any chance of winning the league next season, the Reds must not only sign quality players but they also need their key stars to step up big time.
Big money signing Christian Benteke has been criticized heavily for not living up to his huge price tag this season. However, the Belgian has hardly started in his first season with the club and the one player who should really be in the lime light is none other than captain Jordan Henderson.
The English midfielder has had an injury hit season but since getting the arm-band from Steven Gerrard, Hendo’s performance level has not been the same.
As the skipper, Henderson really needs to take more responsibility but that has not happened. The dynamic midfield leader that we saw in the past two seasons is no where to be found this time around.
The former Sunderland star must step up and be the midfield general, however, this season, Emre Can is the one who has been performing the all round duties and rarely have we seen that from Hendo in the attack/defense.
The 25-year-old star has been linked with a move away from Anfield and if his performance level does not improve then it will not come as a surprise if he departs the club. Here are a few stats that depict his decline in form.
This Key Liverpool Star Must Step Up or Leave Anfield – Not Benteke
