After spending heavy cash last summer to reinforce the squad, it will be fair to say that Manchester United have disappointed badly. They were expected to fight for the title but at the moment find themselves fighting for the fourth place.
Their season should be regarded as a massive failure and things will get even worse if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Since the turn of the year, United’s form has been average and the only positive is the form of their younsgters that have helped them big time in the second half of the season.
Jesse Lingard has been way better than summer signing Depay. Varela has been in form and kept Darmian out of the starting XI. Moreover, teenage stars like Borthwick-Jackson and especially Marcus Rashford have been very significant this seaosn.
Some fans will claim that only injuries to key players gave these youngsters their chance but LvG does deserve credit for that as well.
However, reports (Mirror) suggest that the Dutch manager does not let certain rising stars share the dressing room with the first team players. This sad treatment makes no sense when the same players feature on the Old Trafford pitch.
