Liverpool will face Manchester City tomorrow night in the Premier League. The Sky Blues currently occupy the final Champions League qualification spot and are 9 points ahead of the Reds.
It will be fair to say that if City win, Liverpool can forget about finishing in the top four this season and their best chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition will be the Europa League.
The Merseysiders will really have to step up next season and for that to happen, Jurgen Klopp has to sign some quality players in the summer transfer window. Without CL football, signing CL level players is going to be difficult but Klopp can make that happen.
According to reports (Talksport via TMW), Klopp is eager about signing Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich.
The German international played under Klopp for Borussia Dortmund and might be tempted by the idea of re-uniting with him. Currently, the 23-year-old attacker finds himself in a complex scenario at Bayern and has been mostly injured this season.
Gotze has scored 105 senior goals (Transfermarkt) in his career and can play anywhere in the attack. He is a proven quality world class talent who will largely amplify the quality of Liverpool’s attack.
