Manchester United were active in the summer transfer window and splashed heavy cash to reinforce the squad. However, the winter window was exactly opposite.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with more than a few big names but Adnan Januzaj is the only player who arrived at Old Trafford (back from Dortmund loan) last month.
Other than that, Man United have sold the likes of Ben Pearson and Liam Grimshaw and loaned out Dean Henderson and Kieran O’Hara.
The Red Devils are currently 5th in the Premier League and needed reinforcements to push for a top 4 finish. However, not signing any star in the winter window is arguably the best decision United made.
Louis van Gaal has already spent heavy funds and the performance level has not improved. The Dutch manager has failed to get the best out of quality players and it made no sense to hand him another transfer kitty.
Also, it is likely that LvG is not going to be at Old Trafford next season, hence, saving funds for the new manager to build the squad is the right decision.
