Arsene Wenger is not really renowned for spending much in the winter windows but fortunately, he has completed a crucial signing for the Gunners.
Arsenal have been looking to secure the signing of Egyptian international and Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny for quite some time and yesterday the Gunners finally confirmed the signing.
The 23-year-old international was much needed mainly because Arsenal’s first choice midfield duo Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin suffered injury set backs.
Elneny is a quality star who can play anywhere in the midfield and has been productive in the defensive third as well as the attacking third for the Swiss side. However, for Arsenal, he will most probably start in his preferred defensive midfield role.
This season, he has directly contributed in 8 goals (6 goals and 2 assists) in 28 games for Basel (Transfermarkt).
Arsene Wenger is hoping that Elneny will be able to make his debut (Sky Sports) at the weekend against Stoke City.
