Arsenal have reinforced their squad this winter by signing a versatile midfielder in the form of Mohamed Elneny from Swiss side Basel.
The Egyptian star is naturally a central defensive midfielder and if reports (Telegraph) are anything to go by then Arsenal are edging closer to signing two more defensive midfielders in the form of Bundesliga stats like Granit Xhaka (Borussia Monchengladbach) and Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen).
At the moment Arsenal already have the likes of Coquelin, Flamini, Arteta, Chambers and Bielik who can play in the defensive/central midfield positions. Hence, signing two more DMs makes no sense whatsoever.
Without doubt, Xhaka and Bender are quality and experienced midfielders but the Gunners have enough players in the midfield department. Bender is currently injured at the moment and has only featured in 13 games this season. Xhaka has played 23 times this season for Monchengladbach.
The North Londoners lack depth and quality in their strike-force and if Arsene Wenger is really planning to splash heavy cash then he must look to sign a top striker.
