Arsene Wenger is interested in reinforcing his squad in the upcoming winter transfer window and a certain versatile defender is in the lime light.
Daily Star cite reports in the media claiming that Wenger is lining up January move to sign 6ft1 Stade Reims skipper and Algerian international Aissa Mandi.
The 24-year-old African star plays as a central defender for the club and mainly as a right full back for his country.
Mandi made three appearances in the World Cup 2014 for Algeria and played a pivotal role in helping them qualify for the Round of 16. He played the entire 120 minutes against Germany in the pre-quarter finals.
Currently, Stade Reims are 15th in the Ligue 1 table but Aissa surely has the qualities to make Arsenal’s defense stronger. He could be the long term replacement for Per Mertesacker.
For now, Arsenal are doing fine at the back and their priority must be to sign a strong defensive midfielder. They also need a backup striker as well.
