Arsenal are looking to reinforce their squad in the winter transfer window and a certain Belgian striker is linked with a move to the Emirates.
According to Transfermarketweb, Arsene Wenger is eager to seal the signing of quality striker Michy Batshuayi who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille.
The 22-year-old center forward is rated around €20.6m (Daily Mail), has scored 14 goals and provided 5 assists in 24 games for the French club this season (Transfermarkt).
The Belgian international loves the Gunners and has been a life long Arsenal fan. Back in 2014 when Batushuayi used to play for Standard Liege, he claimed (Sky Sports):
“My preferred destinations are England or Germany. If you ask my favorite team, I’ll say Arsenal.”
“It is a club with a good philosophy, where youngsters get their chance. I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I was a kid.”
At the moment, Arsenal need to reinforce their defensive midfield with Francis Coquelin out injured. As far as the strike-force is concerned, Giroud is doing a brilliant job for the North London side but they do not have any quality cover if the French star gets injured. Batshuayi will be a quality addition if Arsenal can lure him.
