Manchester United sold record signing Angel Di Maria and secured the signing of Memphos Depay. The Dutch international has been quite average for the Red Devils since joining the club in the summer.
Mirror cite reports in the Portuguese media claiming that Man United Agreed $34 million fee to sign another left winger in the form of Nicolas Gaitan. However, they opted not to pursue and seal the deal for the Argentine star.
The 27-year-old playmaker is a renowned assist maker and has been a key member of the Benfica side over the years.
Last season, Gaitan provided 15 assists in 27 league games for the Primeira Liga side. This season, he has scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists in 9 games for Benfica (Transfermarkt).
On the other hand, Depay has scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists in 13 games for Man United this season. Perhaps, Louis van Gaal should have signed the Benfica star but he opted to lure his compatriot Memphis instead who is struggling to settle.
United must pursue the signing of Gaitan again and this time they must secure his signature.

Gaitan transfer saga has always been
disappointing in the end. He is one player
I wouldn’t think twice to bring to Old Trafford
if I have the power but now he is ageing
so though he will be a good addition, It will notvbe
a total good decision tovbuy him now
