Manchester United were linked with numerous strikers in the summer transfer window and in the end lured French star Anthony Martial from Monaco on the deadline day.
According to reports (TalkSport), Queens Park Rangers’ forward Charlie Austin was on Man United’s radar as well, however, the England international has explained that such a move was never on the cards.
As per the provided TalkSport link, the $23m rated striker clarified:
“No. That was never on the cards. Not from what I’m aware of.”
Charlie Austin was brilliant for QPR last season, scored no fewer than 18 goals and provided 7 assists in 35 Premier League games. However, his efforts were not enough to keep the club in the top flight. After a fantastic campaign, it is a little baffling that the 26-year-old forward is still with the Rangers playing in the Championship.
This season, Austin has featured in 5 games so far, scored 4 goals and provided an assist. If Charlie maintains the current form, a PL club may as well lure him in the winter transfer window.
