Arsenal wasted the entire summer transfer window and did not sign a star striker. However, they are once again linked with a move to finally sign a forward in the January transfer window.
According to Telegraph, Arsenal are willing to splash $33.4m to sign Juventus star Simone Zaza in the winter transfer window.
The 24-year-old striker played for Italian side Sassuolo last season. Zaza featured in 31 Serie A games in the last campaign, scored 11 goals and also provided 3 assists (Transfermarkt).
Last year, the Italian striker earned his first senior cap with the national side. Since then, Simone has featured six times for the Azzurri and has netted one goal.
Zaza is a quality player but he has not done enough to be called a world class star. French striker Olivier Giroud had a better goal scoring record than Zaza last season and spending the above mentioned sum on the Italian will make little sense.
Arsenal need a proven world class goal-scorer, however, signing one in the middle of the season is going to be very difficult.
