Arsenal failed to lure any outfield player in the summer transfer window much to the despair of the supporters.
The Gunners badly needed a top quality out and out striker but will have to do with the likes of Giroud and Walcott until at least the January transfer window.
Metro cite reports in the Spanish media claiming that Arsenal are looking to sign Inter’s Mauro Icardi in the winter transfer window.
The 22-year-old Argentine star is one of the best strikers in the Italian league and finished last season as the joint top scorer of Serie A with Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni.
In 36 league games last season, Icardi scored 22 goals and provided 8 assists. The South American striker netted 27 goals and added 9 assists in 48 games for the Nerazzurri in the last campaign. Overall, Icardi has netted 73 goals so far in his club career (Transfermarkt).
The La Albiceleste star surely has the talent to become a world class goalscorer and will improve Arsenal’s strike-force. Will Wenger splash the cash in the January window to lure Icardi? Only time will tell.
