Liverpool Player Ratings vs Stoke City – Brazilian Magic

Liverpool and Stoke City played a mundane game to start their new Premier League campaign and just one moment of magic late on from Phil Coutinho earned the Merseysiders all three points.
Manager Brendan Rodgers selected four new players in the starting XI and the limelight was on Christian Benteke. On many occasions, Liverpool changed their usual passing style and played direct football but it did not work against a physical team like Stoke.
The best goalscoring opportunity of the first half fell to Glen Johnson. The former Liverpool star fired over the bar from close range much to the delight of the traveling supporters.
Apart from few concerns on the left hand side with Joe Gomez, the defense was rock solid and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet had an impressive outing as well.
The game was heading towards a stalemate but with five minutes remaining, Coutinho scored an absolute screamer from 30 odd yards to shock the home crowd.
