Manchester United have been looking for a quality player to fill the position of right back this summer and if reports are anything to go by, they have finally sealed deal to sign one.
The Red Devils targeted key players for the fullback position as Dutch manager prefers someone who can not only defend well but is also productive upfront. That is the main reason why Valencia mainly started ahead of Rafael last season.
According to reports, Manchester United have agreed deal to sign Italian wingback Matteo Darmian from Serie A side Torino FC.
As per the provided link, Manchester United have agreed a fee of $20million with Torino and not only that the Red Devils have agreed personal terms with Darmian as well to complete the business once and for all.
Metro also suggests that Brazilain right back Rafael is expected to be sold to a Serie A club soon.
Matteo Darmian is a versatile talent as not only has he been deployed at right back, in fact he has been used as a left back and also played further upfront on either flank when needed.
No wonder his attacking stats are good for a defender as he featured in 46 games last season and directly contributed in 9 goals (5 goals, 4 assists).
With top quality players like Mata, Di Maria and Depay already present in attack, Darmian does not need to play as right/left midfielder but his effectiveness as a wingback can make the difference.
