Liverpool fans will be disheartened with the news that they have lost out on signing Christian Benteke, that too to arch rivals Manchester United.
The Reds badly need a striker this summer and were chasing the signature of the Belgian star forward.
However, the merseysiders dragged the saga for far too long and their failure to meet his asking price has cost them big time.
According to Daily Star, Man United have won the competition to finally sign the Aston Villa man after doing what Liverpool were unwilling to do i.e. activating Benteke’s $51m (£32.5m) release clause.
As per the provided link, the former Genk star will now move to Manchester United in the coming days.
The 24 year old is a proven Premier League goalscorer and for Aston Villa, Benteke has scored 49 goals in 101 appearances. United fans will hope that stat will improve once he is provided world class services from the likes of Depay, Mata and Rooney etc.
Liverpool on the other hand must act swiftly to sign a top striker or else the gap between them and Man United is only going to increase next season.

If we have lost benteke then we should go for Rondon.
welcome benteke
He is not of united’s quality. Why should you pay all that money for somebody who will warm the bench? And why did we let welbeck go if we are signing benteke?
benteke has found himself in no mans land where he isn’t considered good enough for United while at the same time easily being too good for liverpool.
