Liverpool may have singed James Milner for a midfield role but they still need more of a defensive signing in the department as well.
Brazilian international Lucas is past his best while young German star Emre Can still needs to improve big time.
According to latest reports, the merseysiders are closing in on a rock solid DM signing by weighing up move for Chilean international Gary Medel.
The 27 year old Inter Milan star was a regular for the Nerazzurri last season while playing as the main central defensive midfield star and has Premier League experience with Cardiff City as well. Last season, the South American star featured in 44 games for the Serie A side.
At the peak of his game, Medel played a pivotal role in helping Chile earn their first major trophy by winning the coveted Copa America. He was ever present in every game at the competition, scored a goal and provided an assist as well.

Lucas past his best? It was when Lucas returned to the side last season that Liverpool played their best football. I would sooner Lucas continue and along with Can, use the money to strengthen in other areas
I would rather go for Valdevia as a playmaker instead of a not so effective Joe Allen and use Can in the defensive midfield role. I would rather sell off more fringe players that are not performing as expected.
