Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with two top versatile midfielders in the form of Morgan Schneiderlin and William Carvalho.
While United look set to seal the signing of Schneiderlin from Southampton, reports suggest that Arsenal are likely to finally seal €28m signing of William Carvalho.
The 23 year old Portuguese star is arguably one of the best holding midfield players in the world at the moment and was pivotal in UEFA U21 championships as he has been officially declared as the player of the tournament.
The tournament ended in despair for the Portuguese though as Sweden won the competition on penalties and unfortunately, Carvalho was the one to miss the decisive spot kick.
Not to forget, Carvalho was voted as the Primeira Liga player of the year in his first full season with Sporting and is very highly rated.
Although, Carvalho is a creative player as well but his main job is to form a strong cover in front of back four. Arsenal have creative CMs in Ramsey and Wilshere while the holding midfield role is being brilliantly performed by Coquelin.
Hence, Arsenal should focus on signing a striker more. Nevertheless, Carvalho will surely be a fantastic addition to the squad.

Sign him without delay, then get a world class striker and your looking at the champions!
Given the injuries Arsenal suffer year on year, having two class players in every position would seem perfect sense. Carvalho as another defensive mid would enhance the spine of the team. Finding a striker better than we have, that we can afford, wants to come and the holding club is prepared to sell, is another matter entirely
TRUGUN, your suggestion is more than 100 percent correct, Arsenal need to have two quality players in each position, for a club looking to win the league, that is the only solution. If Wenger does not do that, then he should forget about winning the League.
Could not agree more having two payers in each position is a must , considering the league, Champions league , FA Cup and so on……. Injuries will surely accumulate as we have seen in the past. Regarding William Carvalho he is a very good holding player a bit slow at times but his passes are perfect he has a vision of the game, on the other hand Moran Schneiderlin is more experienced to the English game. Up front Arsenal definitely need a prolific striker to go along side Oliver Girou even two just in case……. The more quality players the better
This hype about Cavalho is taking too long. Do it if you really want to. Cavahlo is good but I hope all the noise will not end up like the Vidal story.
Hope to goodness the Carvalho story is true as he is a monster. I also think we need a top centre half as I contend Merts extreme slowness in running but also in passing has always held us back. True he has great positional sense but pace in passing all over the pitch is crucial to be a top team. For this reason , I have always rated Rosicky and regret he is sidelined so often. This question of passing pace is rarely mentioned on fan sites and I don’t see why more credence is not given to it. You can grow a beard in the time it takes snail Merts to pass the ball, usually sideways to Kos. This lack of urgency and basic speed will continue to be a huge handicap until Merts is replaced.
We all want to see him in arsenal shirt
For how long would this haggling and negotiation last,if you really want the guy strike the deal and get your man,and stop to mess around transfer window. #Venger-Out.
We need quick players all over the pitch.per ëand olivier are very slow in terms of moving de ball.gabriel should be first choice.I remember two seasons ago when we were destroyed at anfield by the pace of suarez sturridge and sterling.we do not need another center as we have paulista and for me chambers will become one of the best english defenders as he has shown so much maturity at his tender age.if we get carvalho and dat elite striker join with the second best goalkeeper in the world and a fully fit ozil with preseason behind him then we should be very optimistic both domesticly and also in europe
