The five time world champions Brazil were considered favorites against Paraguay as two sides met in the quarter finals.
What followed was a repeat of 2011 Copa America last eight game as once again Paraguay snatched victory on penalties.
Brazilian playmaker Robinho opened the scoring early on in the game when a teasing cross from Barcelona star Dani Alves was not dealt with by Paraguay defense. The former Real Madrid star found himself unmarked and slotted the ball home to give Brazil the lead.
The Samba boys dominated the proceedings and Coutinho was menacing for the oppositions last night but Selecao could not add to their tally.
Thiago Silva’s unfortunate handball gifted Chile the chance to equalize and Gonzalez stepped up to level the scores. The game went on to penalty kicks where Ribeiro and Douglas Costa missed for Brazil giving Gonzalez another opportunity, this time to win the game and he made no mistake.
Here are the highlights of the game.
