Manchester United and Liverpool have been in the race to sign Brazilian star Roberto Firmino of Hoffenheim.
As far as the latest reports are concerned, Liverpool are nearing completion of $23.7m Firmino signing and he is a potential replacement of Raheem Sterling who is heavily linked with a move away from Anfield.
The 23 year old attacking midfielder has been brilliant in the past two seasons with the Bundesliga side and is currently in form for the national side as well.
Brazil qualified for the KO stages of Copa America last night and Firmino’s goal proved decisive in earning them victory and top spot in their group.
Last season, in 36 appearances for Hoffenheim, Firmino scored no fewer than 10 goals and also provided 10 assists.
If Raheem Sterling does depart, which is highly likely, Firmino is arguably one of the best replacements as he is a Champions League level player.
Roberto is working well in attack with Liverpool star Coutinho for Samba boys, the combination can prove fruitful for the Reds as well.

If it weren’t financially stupid I’d sell Sterling for £1.00. Can no longer stand then little upstart. Who does he think he is? Nevertheless, if Firmino happens, it’ll be a massive upgrade than the uppity Sterling.
