Not sure whether this is a great news for United fans but Phil Jones has signed a new long term contract with the Red Devils.
Everyone is well aware of the fact that Manchester United need a world class central defender but for now they have officially announced that Jones has agreed a four year deal with the club.
United handed new contracts to McNair, Blackette, Smalling and now to Jones. Not to forget, they already have Marcos Rojo and Evans for central defensive positions as well.
As per Daily Mail, the former Blackburn star will earn $126,000 per week with Manchester United.
Delighted after signing the new contract, Jones claimed:
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal.”
“This is a great club to be part of and I can’t wait to start the new campaign.”
Jones has been an effective defender for Man United since signing for the club under the management of Alex Ferguson. However, the England international is far from world class.
Moreover, last season, Jones missed 13 league games because of injury it will be fair to say that Smalling was their best center half.
It will be intriguing to see who starts for Man United in central defense, especially if the Red Devils bring in someone like Ramos or Otamendi.
