Liverpool are About to Make a Massive Mistake

Liverpool have been active in the transfer window and have secured some key signings already to reinforce the squad.
However, they are still in search of a midfield star who will fill the void left by legendary Steven Gerrard. Although, no one can replace the former captain but still a complete midfielder is required in the center of the park after his departure.
The main midfield player Liverpool targeted was Inter Milan star Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian is a versatile star capable of playing anywhere in midfield.
However, reports lately suggest that the merseysiders have given up the chase because of his huge price tag of £25m and now want another Nerazzurri star Hernanes.
If that is the case then Liverpool are surely about to make a massive mistake.
Although Hernanes has proved to be a quality midfielder over the years in Serie A but at 30, his best days are behind him. Kovacic is one of the rising midfield stars and a regular with Inter Milan even at the age of 21.
Hernanes scored 5 goals and provided 6 assists in 36 games for Inter last season. Kovacic on the other hand netted 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 44 games.
Moreover, As per the provided Telegraph link, Inter paid around 14 million pounds to lure Hernanes last year and will want a fee more than the mentioned sum from Liverpool.
Hence, as far as the issue with price tag is concerned, it does not make much sense why Liverpool will be ready to splash cash for Hernanes who is already a veteran and not for Kovacic whose peak years are ahead of him.
Reds must do all to sign Kovacic as he is someone who can be a long term leader in Liverpool’s midfield.
