Louis van Gaal is well aware of the fact that Man United needs more quality players to challenge for the title next season.
The Dutch manager has openly claimed that the Board needs to step up and splash the cash much needed to sign top stars in the summer transfer window.
Van Gaal stated:
“I’m afraid that the board of Manchester United shall say, ‘Now we have to battle for the championship,'”
“It is a fantastic challenge but that is dependable on how we can purchase very good players and how we can improve the balance in our selection.”
As per the provided link, Van Gaal believes the balance in the squad was not good this season.
United have already been busy with the transfers as Memphis Depay will be joining the Red Devils as soon as the transfer window opens.
However, as per latest reports, it seems the Red Devils are focusing way too much on attack. According to Metro, Manchester United have struck a deal to sign Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica.
The Price tag mentioned is 30 million Euros for the versatile attacker who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in the past as well.
This season, Gaitan has directly contributed in 20 goals (4 goals, 16 assists) for the Portuguese side in 36 games.
The 27 year old playmaker mainly plays on the left flank but that is where Depay is likely going to play for Man United. Also, United have World Class stars in Di Maria and Mata for attacking role as well as rejuvenated Ashley Young.
It remains to be seen whether United will officially seal Gaitan signing or not as it makes little sense for now given that they need reinforcements elsewhere.

Memphis will play on the right, not the left. As with Young he’s right footed and can play in any one of the three forward positions.
Did you just use the words “Di Maria” and “world class” in the same sentence? Unfortunately this has caused an immediate credibility loss and any faith you previously had has now gone.
Are you kidding me, doubting Di Maria ‘s class!
You sound like a spoilt Real Madrid fan, who condemn players based on a poor run of form
“Form is temporary, class is is permanent”
You should check his stats for the few games he did perform and see how well he did before he was hit by injury
You failed a couple of test, does that make you a failure, when you’ve been having A’s since pre school
its a just a matter of time before do maria releases his troops inside the EPL football. with his low performances, in fact he is the 2nd assist maker just behind cecs. in football someone must understand some players instantly adopts very fast and some takes Time to cope. am sure do maria will rock the EPL.
DiMaria can’t handle the physical nature of the prem. He is consistently losing the ball and flopping around which seems to work in spain. I don’t see him lasting very long at united. I hope I’m wrong but don’t think he’s a good fit.
