Liverpool must reinforce the squad adequately to earn back the Champions League qualification place next season.
The merseysiders wasted a lot of cash on mediocre players when they were in the CL last summer. This time around it is going to be more difficult now that they will be playing in second tier Europa League.
However, the Reds are planning to move swiftly in the transfer market to sign quality players.
Liverpool have had bids rejected for one of the best PL fullback last season, Nathaniel Clyne (£10m) of Southampton and Croatian midfield talent Mateo Kovacic (£7.5m) of Serie A side Inter Milan.
Reports now suggest that Saints want around £15m for Clyne while Inter Milan are lookng for £13m for Kovacic.
Should Liverpool sign the mentioned players, the defense and midfield departments will get major boost for next season. Not to forget, signing a top quality striker is a must as well.
Clyne should replace Glen Johnson as right full back or play as right wing back if Reds opt for 3 at the back formation.
On the other hand, Kovacic is capable of playing as both central and attacking midfielder but CM role is preferred and that is where Liverpool need someone as creative as the versatile Croat. He is not the next Gerrard, no one will ever be but still 21, Kovacic can prove to be an asset for the Reds.
Here is how Liverpool should line up with Clyne and Kovacic.
