Champions Chelsea hosted Liverpool yesterday and the two sides ended up drawing the game 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Blues captain John Terry opened the scoring in the 5th minute from a header thanks to poor defending from Liverpool.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard then returned the favor as he headed home from close range from a set piece. Like Liverpool, Chelsea were poor in clearing their lines and Reds’ sipper took advantage.
Second half was much more lively but both teams could not really create any clear cut chances.
The draw means that Liverpool’s Champions League dream for next season is over. Now the Reds are 6 points behind arch rivals Manchester United with two games to go.
Liverpool’s goal difference is +11 while that of Man United is +25. Hence even if Liverpool win both their games and United lose theirs, it is virtually impossible for the merseysiders to finish fourth. Europa League it is then.
