With Arsenal already through, Liverpool can set up a blockbuster FA Cup final if they beat Aston Villa today.
The merseysiders suffered setbacks in the Premier League with consecutive defeats against United and Gunners.
However, they have bounced back with back to back wins against Blackburn and Newcastle and should be considered favorites to earn another FA Cup final berth. The last time Liverpool won the competition was in 2006 beating West Ham. Not to forget, Reds lost the final to Chelsea in 2012.
The last time Liverpool reached the semi finals, they defeated neighbors Everton 2-1 thanks to goals from Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll. The duo are not there this time around but Reds have enough quality to beat Villa.
Aston Villa have arguably got one of the most in form strikers in Europe Christian Benteke and he will be the key if Sherwood’s men are to upset Liverpool.
Here is Liverpool’s confirmed starting XI formation vs Villa.

CONFIRMED – Liverpool Starting XI Formation vs Villa

The final result pretty much typifies Liverpool’s season. As the narrative says Liverpool do have the necessary firepower to be able to see them through, but for anyone who watched the game, for the most part, there were entirely too many players that choked and just still not show up. To their credit, Aston Villa did show up and looked lively, aggressive and took the game to Liverpool. Delph and Benteke did play extremely well. That could not be said however, for Henderson or Gerrard to name a couple. I was surprised that Gerrard did not get taken off at half time. He had a very disappointing game and did not really impact the game at al. Not the way I am sure he was hoping his last possible chance of a trophy was going to play out. The Lambert substitution right at the end was made way too late to really make an impact. By the time the final whistle went, I am not even sure he touched the ball. Lovren in defense did not really have a good game. He also missed a good opportunity in front of goal at the other end. He has not impacted the defense like it was hoped. Well, the last opportunity for a possible trophy this season is gone. Rodgers needs to offload and buy carefully and mindfully in the off season.
