Los Angeles is still in the fight for the eighth position in the Western Conference, as the hosts are currently on ninth place in the standings, only two points behind Winnipeg Jets and three points behind Calgary Flames.

One of the main reasons for my bet can be found in the fact, that the hosts are among the teams with the best home records in NHL this season, as they managed to win twenty two of their previous thirty eight games at “Staples Center” (22-9-7).

Edmonton, on the other hand, is among the worst-performing teams in the Western Conference (23-41-13) and although the Oilers showed some signs of improvement in their games over the last ten days (3-1-0), I doubt that they are capable to win something from this visit in Los Angeles, considering not only their away record this season (9-20-10), but also the fact, that the visitors lost eight of the previous ten games against the Kings (2-7-1), including each of their last five meetings at “Staples Center” (0-4-1).
