Despite spending heavy under the management of Louis van Gaal, Manchester United’s squad has not improved much to progress.
What is more baffling is that majority of the funds were invested to sign world class attacking players in the form of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao yet both have been largely inconsistent for the Red Devils.
On the other hand, there is one player who has suffered unjust treatment from the Dutch manager and that is Spanish international Juan Mata.
The former Valencia man has been impressive for the Red Devils when given the chance this season but now he cannot seem to get in the starting XI even when others are performing poor as well.
From November 29, 2014 to January 1, 2015, United played 8 league games, Mata started in all of them and was only substituted once in the last minute of the away game vs Saints.
Mata scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in the above mentioned period as Man United won 5 games and drew 3.
The next game on January 11, United lost at home to Southampton 1-0 and that was the last game in which Mata played full 90 minutes.
Since then Mata has been warming the bench having only played combined 159 minutes in the next 8 league games i.e approximately only 20 minutes a game.
Not sure what did the Spaniard do wrong to upset the manager to that extent when he has been performing well, definitely much better than record signing Di Maria.
Whatever the case, Manchester United’s sad treatment of Juan Mata makes no sense and reports suggest that the versatile attacker may as well depart Old Trafford next summer.

Mata is a good player, he deserve more time in pitch. But the LVG do not favor him much since his arrival.
