Having signed Calum Chambers in the summer transfer window and Gabriel Paulista in the winter window, Arsenal are still looking to add more defenders.
Defense has been one of their weakest departments and need further reinforcements for next season
Mertesacker and Koscielny did form a strong partnership for Gunners not so long ago but Arsenal clearly need better quality now with the Big German past his best. Although, it is likely that he will still remain at the club and the first choice but sooner rather than later that has to change.
They need to bring in another central defender and according to reports, Arsenal are ready to sign Aaron Cresswell.
As per the provided link the 25 year old West Ham star will cost around €21 million and Arsenal’s on loan star Jenkinson may as well be part of the deal.
On the other hand, Chelsea are more interested in amplifying the quality of their attack.
Blues did sign versatile attacker in the form of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina in the winter transfer window but apparently they want more playmakers.
According to reports, Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle to sign Shakhtar playmerk Douglas Costa. The 24 year old Brazilian has been mostly utilized on the right side and Chelsea already have Cuadrado and Willian covering the position. Hence it will be intriguing to see how Mourinho will use him.
In 22 appearances, Costa has scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists for Shakhtar and the fee mentioned for the transfer is £18 million.
