Manchester United must sign a world class central defender in the summer transfer window to finally end the defensive dilemma.
Under the management of Louis van Gaal, it will be fair to say that the Red Devils have wasted two transfer windows and could not lure a top center half who could be the leader of defense.
However, according to latest reports, Manchester United are ready to move big to sign long term target Raphael Varane.
The French international has found himself warming the bench more often than not under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager has preferred the partnership of Sergio Ramos and Pepe in central defense and as per the provided link, Varane is set for showdown talks with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez about his future.
This season, Varane has only started 10 league games, was an unused substitute in 7 and did not even make the squad in one as well. Hence it is understandable that the 21 year old may look to move away.
With his peak years ahead, Madrid may demand a huge fee and the price tag of €47m is mentioned in the Metro link.
Varane is by all means a top quality defender and was brilliant at Real in his debut season under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager is also keen on signing Varane and the battle between United and Chelsea for his signature will be intriguing.
