Liverpool failed to qualify for the KO rounds of the Champions league as they finished third and were eliminated to play in Europa League.
The merseysiders will play Turkish side Besiktas in the Round of 32 first leg at Anfield and should be favorites to win given their current decent form.
However, Liverpool’s defense is still a concern and conceding away goals is always a major factor in qualification to next round.
Not to forget, Liverpool have defeated Besiktas 8-0 at Anfield under the management of Rafael Benitez. Besiktas will have that hammering in their minds but the they are a better side now while Liverpool are far from the European giants they used to be.
As far as the team news is concerned, Lazar Markovic is banned for the game. The Serb did start against Palace and should be replaced with young Jordan Ibe who has been in top form since returning to the club from loan.
With Gerrard and Lucas still injured, Allen should partner Hendo in midfield. On the other hand, Sterling is still a doubt as well and Lallana should keep his place.
Here is Liverpool’s probable starting XI vs Besiktas.

Allen starting. I’d rather swop Lovren for Can, put Can in midfield #YNWA
Really Ibe,cant wait to see him
i prefer can in midfield and lovren in defence…no allen in first team
