Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is looking for defensive reinforcements in the coming winter transfer window.
It seems as if the Dutch manager wants a completely new look defense with world class players to take United to next level.
Defense is currently the weakest link in the Man United squad and that must be fixed if the Red Devils need to compete with the very best again.
Last summer, Manchester United splashed heavy cash but majority was spent on attacking options when they actually needed more quality for defense.
In the end, they could only lure teenage star Luke Shaw from Southampton and Marcos Rojo from Sporting CP.
Now, Van Gaal wants two more defenders in the form of another fullback and center back.
As far as central defense is concerned, top quality defenders like Hummels and Godin are lately linked with a move to Old Trafford.
On the other hand, according to latest reports, Manchester United are to force Dani Alves signing in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils look to ensure that the Brazilian international’s signings is completed in winter before his contract expires with Barcelona at the end of the current campaign.
Alves has been one of the best fullbacks in the world for quite some time and will surely take the starting role if he joins Manchester United. His arrival will probably end Rafael’s time at United.
More than a few top clubs are interested in securing his signature and it will not be a walk in the park for United as far as Alves signing is concerned.
