The Red Devils are not only short of quality defenders at the moment, but they are also short of first team defenders as well.
In such a scenario, youngsters like Wilson, Blackett and McNair have stepped up to help Manchester United at the back.
The performances have been impressive from the rookie defenders to an extent that they are near new deals with the club.
Young Paddy McNair was utilized for the first time against West Ham United in a game Man United won 2-1 and the 19 year old boy was brilliant at the back.
Captain Wayne Rooney was full of praise for the defender and claimed that McNair was tremendous on his debut.
“It won’t get much tougher in terms of physical strength and aggression against him (McNair), but he dealt with it and we are all delighted with him.
“I saw the clearance he made at the end. I thought he was tremendous for us.”
McNair’s mature performances deserve a new contract and that is what he is about to get with a bumper pay rise as well.
According to reports, Paddy McNair is set to seal new Manchester United deal that will make him earn £22,000 a week. Currently he is on a contract £2,000 a week contract.
The young defender is currently out with hamstring injury but he can be shining star for the Devils in the years to come.
