Since the retirement of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes, the Red Devils have never been able to replace him.
The absence of a player like him in the midfield haunts Manchester United big time and they still look for major reinforcements.
Whether or not they will sign a world class central midfielder in the winter window, we shall see.
Even Scholes himself is not a big fan of any current United midfielder. When the Red Devils signed Herrera from Bilbao, Scholes mourned at why the English giants failed to sign a complete midfielder like Toni Kroos instead.
Now, the Manchester United legend has lavished praise on Arsenal star Jack Wilshere for his brilliant performances in the recent international.
Scholes went to an extent that he rated the Arsenal star as the best player in the England international squad.
Scholes stated:
“I thought Jack Wilshere had two very good games for England during the last week,” he wrote in the Independent. “I would go one step further than that and say that, at the moment, Wilshere is England’s best player.”
“The penny has dropped and he has added another dimension to his game. He has always been capable of that intricate passing game. Now he can play the ball long, too.”
“The quality of some of those passes into Wayne Rooney in Estonia was very high,”
Arsenal are currently suffering because of many injury concerns. Fortunately, Wilshere is fit and must remain that way for a successful season.
