Manchester United Confident of Landing Key Star Signing

Without any doubt, the most important signing Manchester United have to make in the next transfer window is that of a quality central defender.
Louis van Gaal invested most of the cash in the summer to lure attacking players and succeeded in getting world class stars.
However, the defensive concerns remain the same with no commanding defender in the squad after the departure of Rio and captain Vidic.
For worst, signing top defenders in the winter transfer window is by no means easy with majority playing Champions League football while United do not offer any sort of European football this season.
The Red Devils have been long linked with German international Mats Hummels but the Borussia Dortmund skipper did not move in the summer and it will be even harder to sign him mid-season.
Hence, Manchester United are looking at other options as well and the one leading the list is Aston Villa star Ron Vlaar.
Vlaar who joined the English premier league side in 2012 was a key member of the Netherlands’ defensive setup that were brilliant during the World Cup in Brazil.
Van Gaal is well aware of Ron’s qualities and as per reports, Manchester United are confident of landing him in the winter.
With Vlaar’s contract expiring at the end of this season and him not renewing any deal with Villa for now means that United can secure his services for a cut price of 4 million pounds.
