Manchester United are in desperate need of quality defenders but they are constantly linked with more attackers.
The latest name coming up is that of German international and Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler.
Draxler has been mainly linked with a move to Emirates with Arsenal in the previous two transfer windows but the deal never happened.
Arsenal focused on signing Alexis Sanchez in the summer and succeeded but after poor performances from record signing Ozil, gunners eyed Draxler again, this time as his compatriot’s replacement.
Express suggested that Gunners will meet Draxler’s release clause of £37 million and sign him in winter.
However, the story has taken a new twist, one that Arsenal fans will literally hate.
According to Daily Star, Manchester United are all set to beat Arsenal and sign Julian Draxler.
Capable of playing out wide as well as through the middle, the Kaiser is a rising star but do United really need him that bad?
Louis van Gaal already have world class players like Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney to play in the attacking midfield setup and also Januzaj and Valencia as decent backup.
Will Louis van Gaal sell Juan Mata or send Januzaj on loan to make way for Draxler, we shall see.
With no real German connection like Arsenal, United should consider Draxler as a major coup if they can somehow secure his signature in January.
