Manchester United were linked with dozens of targets in the summer transfer window and lure 6 key stars in the end.
They did miss out on few big names such as the likes of Hummels, Vidal, James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado and expect United to be busy in the next window as well.
All the players mentioned above stayed put with their clubs except James Rodriguez who eventually joined Spanish giants and European champions Real Madrid in a huge deal from Monaco.
United wanted James’s compatriot Cuadrado to become the perfect wing back in Van Gaal’s system but the deal could not happen in the summer window.
However, reports do suggest that talks were held between Fiorentina and Manchester United over Juan Cuadrado move as confirmed by the player himself and it is possible that a deal could take place in the next window.
The €45m rated superstar was the leading assist provider in the World Cup and attracted interest from top clubs.
Still, it remains to be seen whether Van will actually go for another attacker after heavily reinforcing attack with players like Falcao and Angel di Maria in the latest window.
The departments of midfield and defense are in dire need of quality first team players as well as depth and that should be the priority for Manchester United in the January transfer window.
