Manchester United had a full week’s rest as they avoided the Capital One Cup game this week being already eliminated in the previous round.
Extra rest may as well help them when they face confident West Ham side at Old Trafford.
The Hammers defeated last year’s runner ups Liverpool 3-1 at home and will be looking to carry on with that form against a United side very low on confidence.
The Red Devils were hammered away from home by newly promoted Leicester City side and the pressure is on Louis van Gaal after just winning one game from 6 fixtures.
As far as United team news is concerned, several changes will be made to the starting XI that featured against Leicester last Sunday. Evans will be out with injury while Blackett received a red card and will be sidelined with suspension.
Hence expect Smalling and new summer signing Marcos Rojo to start as the center back pair while finally we may see Luke Shaw start play his first competitive game for his new club after the big money move from Southampton.
On the other hand, Juan Mata may return to the starting XI but who will go to the bench of the three forwards to make way for the Spaniard?
Here is Man United’s probable starting XI vs Hammers.

MAN U 4-4-2
lindergard, rafael, carrick, rojo, show, mata, blind, herrera, dimaria, rooney, falcao
I support Lindergard.De gea is to slipplt these days.
Based on who is fit / available, I think your lineup is spot on.
1) Falcao should ALWAYS start – He’s got the best striking record of all three recognised forwards, and getting him to his usual off-the-charts form should be considered a top priority. RvP still has amazing touch and skills, but he’s on the wrong side of 30 now, and should get the fewer minutes than Rooney and Falcao overall.
2) Definitely need Shaw – A big part of why Blind and Rojo were smart signings was that they can both contribute to the defensive line in multiple positions. Bringing Shaw on as frees up Rojo to contribute as a CB where United have several injuries. Rojo also appears to lack discipline when going forward as a LB – While Shaw does not. If either Shaw or Rojo get injured during a game, Blind is capable of moving back to cover either one of them.
I support Degea being dropped for lindegard….. Linegard, Rafeal-smallling-Rojo-Shaw, Blind,herrera-Rooney-Dimaria, Vanpersie-falcao
Van persie should be drop to bench. 4.4.2 is better for our present squad. Rafael + smalling + rojo + shaw. Di maria + mata + herrera + blind. Rooney n falcao.
My starting 11 are. Raphael+smalling+rojo+shaw… Blind+hererer+ mata+ di maria… And facao+ rooney at front line.
My sterting eleven if smalling is injured let blind partner rojo at center back and give shaw his first debut and also drop degea and start with lindgeard-. lindgeard. Rafeal. Blind. Rojo. Shaw. Fellaini. Mata. Herrera. Di maria. Rooney. Falcao..
De Gea should be dropped forever and never start again.. I support Lindegard. Lets give him a chance. LVG take note!!
Degea should start… Dont under rate him just yet. He won the best player of the year last season. Its defence that caused all those goals… My starting XI are: Degea+rafael+smalling+rojo+shaw+blind+herrera+mata+di maria+rooney+falcao… 4-4-2 diamond formation. Van persie should be dropped.
Falcao, Rooney, Di Maria and Mata should always start every game and Lindagard should be given a rotative opportunity to the both serious in the deal.
I think de gea needs competition, its health 4 the team.
for me i think 4 3 3 will suit man utd de gea, rafael(RB), smalling, rojo, shaw(LB),
blind (DM), herrera (CM), mata(OM), di maria (LW),rooney(RW), Falcao (CF).
So all of u haven’t even see that the problem we have aat the back is that same Smalling, he should not be playing in Man Utd, it was when he came on that the defense was disorganized, not comfortable on the ball, is height is of no use cos he doesn’t even win aerial balls, we need Smalling our of the team as well as Fellani instead of Fellani, let’s Fletcher or Carrick start, those two are the problem we have in that team right now
starting XI…..De gea!!! Rafael-rojo-blind-shaw
Carrick-herrera-di maria
Mata-rooney-falcao
4-3-3!!!!! note smalling is injured!!!! my substitute will contain Fletcher( just in case of any injury at d back or midfield, if is at d back den he can come to 4 while carrick move to 5 or 6) van persie( to boast the attack if need be) januzay (to boast d midfield or attack if need be). pls di maria shud b given a full time game, Rooney needs to be more responsible, falcao better starts scoring, de gea needs competition to step up his game ( note: lindergard is no longer a united player, only Amos is available) and finally januzay needs to step up his game like sterling and Hazard!!!!
