Manchester United have now got some top class players in their attacking setup. The quality is there as well as the depth unlike other departments.
The reality is no one wants to sit on the bench and especially players of that high caliber may as well feel worse.
Mata was not playing regularly for the Blues as Mourinho did not like his work rate. Di Maria did manage to get more time at Madrid last season than expected but now that they bought Kroos and James Rodriuez, the Argentine thought it was the right time to move.
Rooney is club captain and highest earner, Robin van Persie is Netherlands captain and Falcao has the best scoring record in the squad over the past few years so who would likely sit on the bench?
To start all the big names, Van Gaal may have to change his rigid 3-4-1-2 formation but surely against strong oppositions not that many attacking players will be playing given that United’s defense is very weak.
Both Rooney and Di Maria have brilliant work rate and Van Gaal has to make use of them to contribute in defense when needed as well.
On the other hand, Blind will be sitting deep as a strong DM and when needed would turn into another central defender but Herrera has to be more of a deep lying playmaker as well and also provide defensive cover in this formation.
Here is how RvP, Rooney, Falcao, Mata and Di Maria can be in the starting XI for Man United.

So what you’re saying is that Rooney and Di Maria will be the wing backs?
It is grateful if the best players to start in the squad but the only formation to acomodate rvp, falcao, rooney, di’maria & mata is 3-4-1-2.
Its the worst formation,it wont work out
4~4~2 Is Better To Use
Let’s try and push Rooney on to the left midfield row and we knw what he aready has done during the time of berbatov,Ronado and tevez so its no big issue for him Di Maria right Facol and RVP up front Mata and Blind joins rooney and di maria in midfield row.In defence Shaw,Rojo,Jones and Rafael De Gea in goal and this is a 4-4-2 formation.our defence is weak Rooney will drop left side and help shaw while Di maria will help Rafael and each is good both in defence and attack shaw and Rafael can both run forward and provide dangerous crosses
The managements wants problems and the will have to face it period. No second class in the team. Everyone is first class players. The worst is yet to come under van gal
Love it in principles but the back line aren’t tough enough to handle a team that push from the middle. If we play this formation the best we can hope for is to out score the opposition; which might not be possible against other top four teams.
De Gea (gk)
Rafael(rb)Jones(cb)Rojo(cb)Shaw (lb)
Herrera (rm)Blind(cm)Rooney (Lm)
Mata (Cam)
Di Maria/ Januzaj (rwf)
Falcao/ RVP(SS)
Can’t see anything wrong with this, start a traditional back with shaw and rafa able to switch to wingback when in the ascendency. Play Rooney, blind and hererra in the mid able to do the same and adapt defensively and offensively depending on the run of the game, give mata his slot in the hole (as it’s the only position he can play in) and use a rotation of di Maria/Januzaj and Falcao/RVP to balance egos and temper experience with youth. Any mileage in this?
Ridiculous idea….Rooney at LM. Read on below for the right options.
Play rooney and di maria out wide like ronaldo and rooney years back, mata in the middle, falcao/Rvp upfront , importantly we should convert valencia to right back. Then we are a Go !
MATA/FLETCHER LACK PHYSICAL PRESENCE IN UTD TEAM..JAN.EXIT BEST OPTION FOR UTD @ FOR THAT REASON I GO FOR 4-2-3-1..= DEA GEA~SHAW~ROJO~JONES~VALENCIA~-BLIND~HERERRA~-JANUZAJ~ROONEY~DI MARIA~- FALCAO ? SUB..AMOS~RAPHAEL~YOUNG~CARRICK~EVANS~MATA~?
This formation 3:5:2 to work, u must be patient, but if louis van gaal want to excell in england, let him use 4:3:3, or 4: 1; 3: 2..
Well back to the old ways good to see mufc fans arguing about what formation or wat player goes where instead of ed Woodward shit players sack managers could this mean we are on are way back I want a rant n it goes .
I think we have a strong team with good balance strength on the bench and experience considering the lack of contest that we are it looking at the squad for the season I think 3rd or 2nd In the prem and f/a cup should be expected this year .
My strongest 11
……………. De gea ………….
…..jones…………..rojo……
Rafael……blind……..shaw..
…..Herrera.mata.dimaria….
……..Rooney…..falcao……
I think the best formation that will accommodate our players is 1:3:2:3:2. ………
De gea
Phil Jones …..john Evans ……Rojo
Herrera………blind
mata/Rooney……..rooney/mata…….di maria
falcao. …..van persie
The 3-4 formation at the back is good but is dangerous if Evans will be involved .
As 4 the formation i think LVG is paid to do just that. M a fan, a spectator n not a coach/manager so will not crack my heard about that, c.
i think 4-2-3-1 is the best suitable formation for us. it allows the wingers to concentrate on attacking and enables them to penetrate. giving a player both attacking and defensive role, especialy for some one who doesnt experiance it before(like young nd valencia) is wastage in both roles. My best 11 are ……de gea……….. …rafael…jones….rojo….shaw…. hererra…..blind januzaj….rooney…..dimaria falcao
United fans should keep away and leave the job to the technocrats! It’s not their job to suggest who should or should not start otherwise what’s the use of hiring a manager?
4-3-1-2 de-gea Rafael-Jones-Evans-rojo blind-Herrera-di-Maria mata Rooney-falcao or 3-4-1-2 de-gea Jones-rojo-Rafael Herrera-blind-Fletcher-di-Maria Rooney van-persie-falcao
But as for I prefer 4-3-1-2
Replace Evans with Rafael and it’ll be fine………
