How Man United will Line Up with Di Maria: System Criticized

Having splashed club record fee to secure the services of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, Man United now lead the spending table this summer.
Even then, the Red Devils are suffering in the premier league mainly because of their torrid defense and midfield and they still need huge reinforcements.
We shall see to what extent can Di Maria repair things but for now the question is, where will he play in Van Gaal’s setup.
Many United supporters are concerned that the Argentine and Juan Mata will clash for the No.10 spot. However that might not be the case.
Di Maria is renowned for his searing pace, dribbling and very high work rate. Last season with Los Blancos, Di Maria mainly featured in the center when both Ronaldo and Bale were fit.
He played 34 league games and was deployed 12 times as the central attacking midfielder, else was mainly working his socks off out-wide as a winger.
Louis van Gaal’s 3-4-1-2 formation was praised during the World Cup as Netherlands finished third. However, the same system is being heavily criticized now that United have failed to win and lost 2 of the 3 games the Dutch manager has managed.
It will be fair to say that an experienced manager like Van Gaal will not be fazed by the criticism just yet as he firmly believes in his system and style of play. Without doubt, he does lack quality players. Hence, expect Di Maria to be the part of the 3-4-1-2 formation.
One of his key traits is that Di Maria works tirelessly and the best example of that was shown in the Champions league final last season where he was awarded the man of the match as well. Therefore, his presence out-wide can be productive for the Red Devils.
