Liverpool completed the signing of former Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli from AC Milan to further reinforce their attack.
The merseysiders were beaten by the champions last night as the new signing watched from the stands.
Reds still have problems at the back but without doubt they missed someone like Luis Suarez against the citizens.
A direct replacement for the Uruguayan was not really going to be possible but it will be fair to say that the Italian is the man to take his place and has all the talent to be brilliant for Liverpool.
Reds required needed depth and quality upfront and Balotelli completes the set. Brendan Rodgers used the diamond formation with SAS to magnificent effect last season and will hope that Mario and Daniel can form that strong a partnership as well.
Expect BR to use the diamond formation with two forwards upfront when both are fit.
Here is how Liverpool will line up with Mario Balotelli.

There were both some positives and negatives from the City game. At least in the first half, Liverpool had numerous opportunities to make their pressure and possession count but failed to take advantage. On one hand the Jovetic goals were classy and well taken, however, the third goal was ridiculous and should not have happened. To be carved open like they were was one thing but as far as Mignolet was concerned to be beaten at your near post is poor. One the other end, Lambert’s effort/Man City own goal was a welcome addition, however, Lambert’s decision to square the ball across the penalty area shows a lack of confidence and belief in his own abilities. It would have been more preferable if he had at least tried a shot on goal. Oh, for hindsight! The injuries sustained late in the game are concerning, however, if Johnson is unable to play the next game, it will give Flannigan and Manquillo the opportunity to impress and hopefully keep Johnson out of the side. If Brendan does go ahead with the line-up as listed above it will give Tottenham something to think about.
