Manchester United desperately need to reinforce their central defense this summer or else the problems of last season will not be solved.
Not to forget, United lost legendary names like Vidic and Ferdinand and no replacement has been signed as yet.
One of their key center half targets is Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen and the Red Devils have been keen to lure him to Old Trafford.
However, Arsenal are blocking the move as they do not one of their stars to improve a rival premier league team and will sell elsewhere.
Manager Arsene Wenger claimed that Veramaelen’s departure is highly likely but the gunners will sell abroad.
“Manchester United are part of the group (of bidders).”
“Vermaelen could leave us because he needs to play now. We’re in a position where it’s difficult to stand in his way.”
“We would prefer to sell him aboard. That is an option. We have offers from abroad as well. We have bids. You will know very soon.”
Arsenal are stronger than Manchester United and they cannot afford to repeat the mistake of strengthening the Red Devils again.
Gunners paid the price big time after selling star striker Robin van Persie to United as the Dutch star helped the Old Trafford club in winning their 20th league title.
Hence, Arsenal boss has made the right call to sell the star player abroad and United will likely be frustrated more with the season beginning soon and they are short of quality in central defense.
