David Luiz has been criticized for his inconsistency in defense but the new Paris Saint-German star put in a brilliant over all performance that helped Brazil qualify for the semi finals.
Luiz has that tendency to move forward with the attack almost every time. At club level, he has normally restricted but Scolari trusts him to the fullest and has given him the free hand.
Last night, he was not only solid at the back but also influential in attack. Renowned for his unique long range free kick ability, the former Chelsea star scored a stunning goal for 35+ yards to double Brazil’s lead.
The goal eventually proved to be the winner as Colombia did pull one back.
