Chelsea: Return of Drog Confirms Torres' Misery is Complete

Drogba UCL 2012When Chelsea splashed club record fee to hire the services of Fernando Torres from Liverpool, fans expected the Spaniard to bang goals for fun.
However, El Nino forgot the trait of scoring goals week in week out while departing Anfield. Since then, it has been a horror story.
Torres was the darling of the Kop and arguably one of the best and most feared strikers in the world during his Liverpool days. So it made sense when Chelsea splashed £50 million to sign him in 2011.
Now that price tag has only become a figure to mock him all over the world. Not just that, when players miss an easy goal scoring opportunity, that’s called doing a Torres. Such has been the nightmare form of the Spaniard.
Fernando Torres ChelseaThe stats tell the whole the story, He scored 81 goals in 142 games for the merseysiders. With Chelsea, in 172 games he has only netted 45 times.
Frustrating form earned him a bench role in his first full season as veteran Drogba led the line but after winning the UCL, Drogba departed and claimed that Torres is Chelsea’s future.

“We have a good relationship. We don’t understand why we didn’t play together more, but that’s the past. Torres is the future”

The signing of Costa was always going to happen but now the return of the Drog confirms that Torres’ misery is complete and he has to depart.
Even at the age of 36, Mourinho believes that Drogba is one of the best strikers in Europe and can make the impact that perhaps the 30 year old Spaniard can’t. It is time for Torres to head home.
